In this improvised 24-hour performance on piano, Drungle embarks on a quest to simultaneously create and exist within a space of sonic and emotional self-expression, observing the ways in which different layers of sound evolve throughout the event??™s duration. Similar to the contrapuntal concepts employed by composers as diverse as Bach, Stravinsky, and Shostakovich, but developing live and in real time, this effect imbues the music with a unique energy.

This presentation by Nicol??s Guagnini, based on a text by Allan Kaprow about seminal Fluxus artist George Maciunas, will include a film by Jonas Mekas, "Zefiro Torna or Scenes from the Life of George Maciunas" (1992), fragments of a radio interview with Maciunas, and a lecture by Guagnini examining the ideas of Maciunas, focusing in particular on the role of artists in creating property value and eventual gentrification, artists' cooperatives, and the current situation on the Lower East Side of New York.
